Chardonnay is an iconic Yarra Valley varietal, and Charles and his team have worked passionately to do the reputation justice with his Chardonnay wines.
Classic, balanced, and truly Yarra Valley, this wine is named after the emblem of a Compass, meaning "four points lead to home". Charles has symbolised the four points in his Mandala to his four children who always centre him and guide him home.
Tasting Notes
Pristine light straw green in colour, aromas are citrus and green apple driven with a hint of minerality and complex sulphides. The palate has an attractive saline character with suggestions of white flowers, fresh linen and underlying ruby grapefruit. Highlights of spiced oak are apparent, working harmoniously alongside the primary fruit characters of the wine. A complex layering of flavours is finished with balance and poise.

Winemaking Notes
The Mandala Compass Chardonnay 2024 pairs well with grilled seafood like Barramundi or lobster, richer fish such as salmon, and vegetarian options like halloumi fritters or pesto pasta. These pairings complement the wine's citrus, green apple, and saline notes, with the spiced oak working well with dishes that offer rich, grilled, or herbaceous components.
Reviews
Wine Pilot Review 94 Points
A combination of different clones, which were fermented separately with a combination of wild and inoculated yeasts. It’s a generous palate structure, but it is also delivered with a degree of delicacy, heightened by the fine minerality that cuts through to the finish. Light stone fruit with a little cut lime edginess provides balance, while the oak is neatly tuned to create perfect balance.
