Chardonnay is an iconic Yarra Valley varietal, and Charles and his team have worked passionately to do the reputation justice with his Chardonnay wines.
Classic, balanced, and truly Yarra Valley, this wine is named after the emblem of a Compass, meaning "four points lead to home". Charles has symbolised the four points in his Mandala to his four children who always centre him and guide him home.
Tasting Notes
Fresh and perfumed. Butterscotch and honey, flinty oyster shell, mandarin and peach.
A vibrant, youthful palate centres on a delicious, mouthwatering acidity. Citrus and saline drive mesh with subtle peach and lemon zest. Almond and brioche combine in a syrupy, mouthcoating dance on the palate leading to a lingering savoury citrus finish.
Selected from our strongest performing chardonnay of the 2019 vintage. 100% lovingly hand-harvested, whole bunch pressed and fermented in French oak barrels on full solids. Natural and selected yeast strains were selected for alcoholic ferment. Matured for 10 months in 30% new French oak before blending and bottling.
12.1% alc/vol.
Reviews
95 Points - Jane Faulkner, 2022 Halliday Wine Companion
"There's a lusciousness and a depth to this, yet the acidity is in charge. This means the white stone fruit, honeycomb, nougatine and sweetish oak flavours can be enjoyed without it feeling heavy. It's complex, savoury and the finish is long."
